For everyday listening, the human hearing system relies on many variables, including the shape of individual's heads, their outer ear and other subtle physical cues. However, when headphones are used, either in-ear earbuds, or over-ear headphones, the frequency response of the auditory system is negatively affected, creating an unnatural and in many cases, uncomfortable listening experience.

SRS Labs developed a proprietary algorithm, SRS HeadphoneTM, based on the human hearing system and HRTF, to create a more natural listening experience when using earbuds or headphones. SRS Headphone creates a more realistic, non-fatiguing, natural, and immersive stereo listening experience, simulating that of a live performance.
